The University of Seychelles (UniSey) celebrated its 16th Anniversary on Wednesday 17th September 2025, with a commemorative lecture held at its Anse Royale Campus. The event brought together distinguished guests, faculty, students, and alumni to reflect on the university’s journey and its role as the “Knowledge Hub of the Indian Ocean.”
The theme for this year’s lecture was “Research and Innovation in Education”, underscoring UniSey’s ongoing commitment to advancing knowledge and shaping the future of learning in Seychelles and beyond.
The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Justin Valentin, Minister of Education, with additional presentations being made by Dr. Justin Zelime, Dean of Research and Innovation, and UniSey alumna, Ms. Liza Arnephy.
The UniSey Alumni Association’s Executive Committee (EC) was also in attendance, with Ms. Shannon Francoise, EC Member and PR Officer, serving as the Master of Ceremonies (MC) for the event. In her role, Ms. Francoise guided the programme with professionalism and warmth, reflecting the alumni’s active engagement in the life of the university.
The presence of the Alumni EC reinforced the Association’s mission to strengthen bonds between graduates and their alma mater, while supporting UniSey’s vision for continued growth and academic excellence.
As UniSey celebrates 16 years of achievement, the event reaffirmed the University’s dedication to research, innovation, and community engagement. The collaboration between UniSey leadership, government, and its alumni community highlights a shared commitment to shaping education that is both globally relevant and locally impactful.
